As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (#LC13748). Shanita specializes in working with adolescents and millennial women supporting them in the areas including but not limited to Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Self-Esteem/ Self-Image, and Trauma. She is a proud alumna of The University of Maryland Eastern Shore graduating with her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology, 2015; Trinity Washington University, School of Education with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, 2020.
Shanita enjoys brining creativity and fun into therapy. She belives in finding ways to make mental health more acciesble and relateable. She has created and led several therapy groups such as “Lemon AID” a group created to support Black women in exploring identity and self-esteem inspired by Beyonces album titled Lemonade. This followed her group “Girls Need Love TOO” a self-esteem and self-image group for Black teen girls inspired by song from Summer Walker. Shanita is aware of the stigma that surroonds the Black community when it comes to mental health. This is why she strives to merge the both psychotherapy with pop culture. She believes there is so much you can learn from the world around you if you just pay attention.
So if you are ready to start your journey of discovery, growth, and healing then look no further. Shanita works diligently to remain a therapist who provides a safe space for clients during their healing journey. As a Black woman who use to be a Black girl she understands what it means to live at the crossroads of what it means to be both Black and a Woman/Girl and strives to make space for both Black womanhood and girlhood to be seen and heard. Reach out today to work with Shanita.
